Designed Around Your Vision at Geoffrey's Diamonds

About the Custom Design Process

Creating a custom piece of jewelry should feel exciting, collaborative, and personal. At Geoffrey’s Diamonds, we guide you through every step of the process with expert craftsmanship, transparent communication, and attention to detail from concept to completion.

Whether you’re designing an engagement ring, reimagining a family heirloom, or creating a completely original piece, our process is built to ensure your jewelry feels uniquely yours.

Step 1: The Initial Consultation

Every custom project begins with a one-on-one consultation. During this meeting, we’ll discuss your ideas, inspiration, style preferences, gemstones, metal options, timeline, and budget.

You’re welcome to bring:

  • Inspiration photos
  • Pinterest boards
  • Existing jewelry
  • Loose gemstones
  • Family heirlooms
  • Rough sketches or concepts

Even if you only have a general idea, our team can help shape your vision into a finished design.

For the best experience, we recommend visiting us in person so we can fully understand the details that matter most to you.

Step 2: Concept Sketches & Design Planning

Once we understand your vision, we begin developing the concept through hand sketches and design planning.

This stage allows us to:

  • Refine proportions and styling
  • Explore design details
  • Discuss gemstone placement
  • Confirm overall structure and wearability
  • Ensure the piece aligns with your lifestyle and preferences

Our goal is to create a design that balances beauty, comfort, durability, and long-term wear.

Step 3: CAD Renderings & Revisions

After the initial concept is approved, we create a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) rendering of your jewelry piece.

These detailed digital models allow you to visualize the design before production begins and provide the opportunity to fine-tune every detail.

We offer unlimited CAD revisions during the approval process because we want you to feel completely confident in the final design.

Adjustments can include:

  • Stone size and shape
  • Band width and thickness
  • Setting style
  • Design proportions
  • Engraving details
  • Finishing touches

Step 4: Sample Models for Complex Designs

For select projects, especially highly detailed or complex pieces, we may create a base-metal sample model.

This allows you to:

  • See the design in person
  • Feel the scale and proportions
  • Evaluate comfort and fit
  • Review details before final production

This additional step helps ensure confidence before your piece moves into final casting and finishing.

Step 6: Final Presentation & Pickup

Before delivery, every piece undergoes a final inspection to ensure it meets our quality standards for craftsmanship, finishing, stone setting, and overall appearance.

Once complete, your custom jewelry is ready to be presented, worn, and enjoyed for years to come.

Our Commitment to You

Custom jewelry is deeply personal, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our goal is to create a piece you genuinely love — one that reflects your story, style, and vision while maintaining the craftsmanship and durability expected from fine jewelry.

Because each piece is made specifically for the individual client, all custom orders are considered final sale. Adjustments within the approved design scope may be accommodated, while significant redesigns or material changes after approval may result in additional costs.
